Dear Colleague,
The 2007 WISE SoE annual data request is the seventh formal water data collection in Eionet and will run until Friday, 21 December 2007.
In our letter of 13 September 2007, you have been informed about step 1 of the WISE SoE data request concerning the use of WFD stations for Eionet reporting. So far, we received replies from Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia and Spain related to this part of the data request.
All countries are now requested to finalise the station mapping (if not already done) and prepare for step 2 of the WISE SoE annual data request 2007, which is the annual reporting of monitoring data based on the updated Data Dictionary.
The Data Dictionary has been updated following the agreement on the reporting sheets for ground water, rivers and lakes. The Data Dictionaries for transitional/coastal/marine water and water quantity are unchanged.
Countries, which have already monitored data at WFD stations, are requested to report those data from these stations. Countries will continue reporting data for their Eionet stations for all data on water quantity and transitional/coastal/marine water and if they have not yet monitored data at WFD stations.
Reporting of transitional/coastal/marine data can take place as usual via the reporting to Marine Convention data centres like ICES, MEDPOL and BSC Secretariat, if countries wish. We are currently receiving the MEDPOL eutrophication data set.
Announcement of step 3
At the Eionet freshwater workshop on 3rd October, it has been agreed that the quality assurance analysis of all data sets in waterbase and the resulting questions to countries will be a step 3 in the 2007 WISE SoE annual data request. It will start this year and countries will be asked to correct their Eionet data by the end of February 2008. A third letter will follow on this quality check of waterbase.
Helpdesk service and support
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and look forward to another successful annual data flow.
