Complementing and enhancing the water quantity data flow to support water assets accounts

To:

Eionet National Focal Points

Eionet PCPs and NRCs Water Quantity and Use

Dear Colleague,

At the last NFP Eionet meeting on 17/18 May, we requested NFPs to support the water assets accounting by provision of daily stream flow data from the past 15 years.

It was agreed that NFPs should reply within 6 weeks to the document  5.1 Complementing and enhancing the water quantity data flow to support water assets accounts‘ and that EEA should specify the overall data needs for the water assets accounts explaining if more data need to be requested in the near future.

The attached ‚Information note‘ by Philippe Crouzet specifies the overall data needs for the water assets accounts. In the appendix it contains questions for clarification from NRCs. We propose to use this document as living document through systematic updating and distribution in reply to NRC’s questions for clarification.

The attached ‚Streamflow stations and data request‘ by the ETC/ICM and the attached ‚Streamflow data template‘ provide guidance how the data can be provided by you.

Please provide your reply to the NFP document 5.1 by 30 June to the ETC/ICM manager Anita Künitzer (anita.kuenitzer@cenia.cz) regarding your data policy, the organisation(s) that will provide the data, how and by when the data will be provided. The data provision itself should preferably take place as soon as possible after your reply. The evaluation of this data request will be presented to the next NFP, Bureau and Management Board meetings.
